Head of Engineering

In partnership with the company's founders, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company's services to Banks and other institutions, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to business success. - Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and continued deployment of all web-based services. - Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide information security plan that conforms to global Banking standards and for the company to be able achieve SOC2/GDPR compliance. - Supervise recruitment, training, and organization of all development staff related to the technology, building a lean tech organisation structure - Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AWS cloud infrastructure, adhering to provisioning, configuring, and maintenance of the microservices deployed on AWS infrastructure, with good knowledge of Info Sec/Dev Ops/CI /CD pipeline management. - Review current best practices and review the infosec, architecture, and infrastructure of the platform, complying with global institutional standards. - Define, implement, and monitor the company's software development methodology and applicable policies within that, i. i.e. Asset Management, incident management. - Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing with applications like SonarQube. - Select, deploy, and monitor performance profiling tools and procedures. - Review and optimise an application deployment process and supervise deployment to staging and production servers. - Monitor application performance and review any application failures in staging or production. - Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization. - Design a technology roadmap to support a 3-5 year active rollout of functionality. - Develop and implement a lean internal staffing model. - Develop an appropriate plan for cost and time-effective use of outsourcing partners and internal hires. - Define appropriate IT, data protection, and security policies, and ensure full compliance with regulatory data management requirements as a B2B global marketplace. Requirements : - Demonstrated ability as a Head of Engineering with a strong understanding of bank-level infrastructure and security, Strong understanding of new technologies such as Generative AI / NLP. - Subject matter expert on AWS Cloud infrastructure. - Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular web application framework. - preferably Java, SpringBoot, Django, Python. - Has worked in a financial institution, global tech companies servicing the banking sector, or a fintech company related to analysing loans or credit ratings.
