Job Description
EV Infrastructure Engineer A dynamic opportunity for a skilled Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of electrical systems, providing technical expertise to support EV infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Design & Development : Create drawings and perform design calculations for EV infrastructure and electrical components. System Evaluation : Assess electrical systems and products, applying knowledge of electrical design and material specifications. Component Selection : Identify and select electrical components and materials to ensure high-quality project outcomes. Installation Expertise : Provide technical guidance on the installation of EV charge points. Tender Support : Assist in the tendering process by offering expert technical input. Network Design : Deliver expertise in electrical design, with a particular focus on MV and LV networks. Material Planning : Prepare accurate bills of materials for electrical components. Customer & Sales Support : Collaborate with sales and technical teams to guide customers through the technical survey and purchasing process. Stakeholder Engagement : Work closely with suppliers, contractors, and DNOs to ensure project feasibility. Client Consultation : Provide advice to clients, consultants, and industry professionals on tailored EV solutions. Troubleshooting & Analysis : Identify and resolve technical issues, compiling reports through data analysis. Training & Knowledge Sharing : Support the development of internal training programs for customer service and technical support teams. Communication : Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible information for diverse audiences. Essential Experience & Qualifications Education : BSc in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Professional Membership : Member of a relevant professional body (IET, IEI). Chartership : Working towards or willing to obtain Chartered Engineer status. Regulatory Knowledge : Strong understanding of BS 7671 and IET guidance for EV charging. Technical Expertise : Experience in electrical design and technical specification evaluation. Knowledge of grid infrastructure, including HV, MV, and LV network design. Conducting site surveys and interpreting technical specifications. Software Skills : Proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawings. Industry Knowledge : Familiarity with electrical regulations and industry standards. IT & Communication : Strong command of Microsoft Office applications and excellent written/verbal communication skills. Desirable Qualifications & Experience MSc in Electrical Engineering. Chartered Electrical Engineer status. Extensive experience in HV/MV design. Ability to design, modify, and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD. Prior experience in the EV charging industry. Full UK driving license.
