Job Description Pupil Support Assistant Balerno High School - Wellbeing Hub Salary: £24,909 - £25,116 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional) Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional Are you kind, caring and passionate about supporting children and young people? Balerno High School is recruiting a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) to support young people transition from primary school, build social and communication skills and support positive destinations. You will be positive, a good team player and will be committed to working with young people, especially those with additional support needs. The post will involve building relationships of trust with children and their families. The PSA will be part of enhanced staffing within the Wellbeing Hub. The Hub is led by a Curriculum Leader. You will work alongside them and a Pupil Support Officer to support children with social and emotional needs to thrive in their mainstream school. All successful candidates will be given intensive training to help them carry out their role. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
