Job Description

Job title: Planning Manager Location: Blackhillock Contract length: 6 Months Role overview As a Planning Manager, you will oversee the strategic planning and scheduling of multiple construction projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role aims to optimize project timelines, resource allocation, and coordination efforts while fostering efficiency across the construction portfolio. You will implement best practices, guide the planning team, and ensure successful project outcomes. You will operate both independently and as part of the planning team. In this role, you will identify planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, while also collaborating on the development of a logical sequence and methodology during tender processes. You will provide leadership and guidance to ensure that all planning deliverables, including programs, planning philosophy, and presentations, meet project goals. This role also involves managing the contract stage and working closely with project stakeholders and subcontractors. Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of planning processes. Oversee the creation of key deliverables such as programs, planning philosophy, reports, and presentations. Guide the planning team in formulating Tender Programmes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Ensure efficient management of resources (labour, equipment, and materials) to meet project objectives. Provide strategic guidance through the contract stage, leading the planning team to produce and manage the Contract Programme. Evaluate and maintain the project critical path and implement corrective actions where needed. Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, resolving issues promptly. Aid the planning team in data analysis, tracking key performance indicators, and making data-driven decisions. Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to less experienced planners. Key Skills / Experience Required: Analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in project management tools and software such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, or ASTA. Extensive knowledge of construction project management principles and methodologies. Expertise in project scheduling, risk management, budgeting, and cost estimation. Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Leadership and mentorship capabilities. Significant experience in successfully planning and managing construction projects. Proven experience managing planning teams and client/subcontractor relationships
