Project Developer – Renewable Energy

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Developer to join our clients International Business Development team based in South Africa. In this role, you will lead the greenfield development of Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects, managing land origination, permitting, stakeholder relationships, and project budgets. You will also conduct due diligence on potential project acquisitions to expand our robust renewable energy portfolio. Key Responsibilities: · Originate and secure land leases and grid connections. · Oversee development and permitting processes for renewable energy projects. · Lead 1GW green developments and manage allocated consultants. · Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables. · Coordinate with stakeholders, including government bodies, grid operators, and contractors. · Lead the environmental permitting of projects with a focus on wind energy. · Conduct due diligence on project acquisitions. · Mentor and lead the local development team. Qualifications: · Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Environmental Sciences. · Minimum of 5 years experience in Wind and Solar project development in South Africa. · Familiarity with South African public tendering processes and large-scale renewable energy project permitting. · Proven project management experience across full project life cycles. · Strong knowledge of the South African energy market and Eskom grid connection processes. · Proficiency in English (written and verbal); additional languages are a plus.
