THE ROLE The Supplier Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for defining and developing an overall supply strategy for different categories, overseeing the onboarding of new suppliers, conducting benchmarking studies, and performing should-cost analysis to ensure cost-effective procurement and supplier performance. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders to optimize supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain. YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW Supplier Strategy And Performance Management: Define mid- and long-term supplier strategies for different categories with focus on, e.g., fit to company strategy and principles, geographical structure, KPI development, etc. Use metrics and KPIs to evaluate supplier reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct regular supplier audits and assessments. Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. Onboarding New Suppliers: Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers. Manage the onboarding process, including supplier qualification and integration into the company's supply chain. Ensure new suppliers meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Benchmarking: Conduct benchmarking studies to compare supplier performance against industry standards and best practices. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities. Present findings and recommendations to senior management. Should-Cost Analysis: Perform should-cost analysis to determine the fair cost of products and services. Collaborate with suppliers to understand cost drivers and negotiate better pricing. Develop cost models to support purchasing decisions. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier management. Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards. Negotiations With Suppliers: Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Ensure compliance with contractual agreements. HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Several years of experience in supplier management, strategic procurement, or supply chain roles - ideally in an international and fast-paced setting. Proven experience in developing supplier strategies, conducting cost analyses, and leading commercial negotiations. Solid understanding of sourcing processes, supply chain risk management, and performance metrics (KPIs). Strong intercultural competencies and the ability to work effectively across cultural boundaries - especially with suppliers based in Asia. Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trustful supplier relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders. Analytical and data-driven mindset with proficiency in tools for cost modeling and benchmarking. Fluency in English is a must; additional languages are a plus. Specialized knowledge in materials - such as carbon or composites - is a strong advantage. A hands-on attitude, solution orientation, and the drive to constantly push boundaries.
