Job Title: SEMH English Teacher (maternity cover) Location: Alternative Provision Where: London Borough of Greenwich Start: April 2025 Rate: £170 - £240 a day Outstanding Inner City Alternative Provision setting within the London Borough of Greenwich is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH English Teacher / Teacher of English (MPS or UPS). This position is to commence in April 2025, 5 days a week. Staff are warm & welcoming with a dedicated Senior Leadership Team. This is a contract English Teacher / Teacher of English position is requiring expertise in teaching KS3 up to GCSE English to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour. The successful English Teacher / Teacher of English will have Qualified Teacher Status. Class sizes are up to 7 children per class and you will be supported by several behaviour TAs. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Proven experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 levels. Strong understanding of the challenges and needs associated with SEMH, ASD, and behaviour management. Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students. Ability to differentiate instruction and provide personalized support to students with diverse needs. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents. Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students in small group settings. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH, ASD, and behavioural challenges. Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters students' academic, social, and emotional development. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning. Assess, record, and report on students' progress and development, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and stay current with educational developments. Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety protocols. SEN1
