THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal. The Smart Bio-Interfaces Research Unit is coordinated by Gianni Ciofani . The research focuses on nanomedicine and microphysiological systems as testing platforms for the developed nanovectors . This includes preparation and characterization of “smart” nanoparticles for theranostic applications and their assessment on complex in vitro models . The Bio-Logic Materials Research Unit is coordinated by Paolo Netti . The research focuses on cell instructive materials and organ-on-chip devices . This includes nanoengineered surfaces to control cell fate, in-vitro fabrication of fully functional human tissues and integration in organo-on-chip platforms for assessing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be: Fabrication of microfluidic devices mimicking the brain cancer microenvironment Testing their functionalities with appropriate cellular models ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or similar disciplines Documented experience in Microfabrication, Cell cultures Strong publication record Good command of spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS Experience in cellular testing, imaging through fluorescence/confocal microscopy Knowledge of finite element modelling software (COMSOL, ANSYS) Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset COMPENSATION PACKAGE A yearly gross salary ranging between €24k and €27.5k, which may include a bonus option depending on your role and contract Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
