In line with ongoing research projects, the candidate will focus on AI-enhanced detection of biomarkers for communicable (e.g., Ebola Virus Disease, MPOX disease) and non-communicable diseases, spanning from chronic cardiovascular diseases (e.g., cardiac amyloidosis, congestive heart failure), eye disease (e.g., inherited maculopathies, diabetic retinopathies), metabolic disease (e.g., diabetes) and rare cancers. Design of trials aimed at acquiring primary and secondary data for the training, testing and evaluation of PoC and IVMD. Demonstrate and quantify the impact (safety, efficacy, cost-effectiveness, acceptability) of these models on diagnostic and therapeutic workflows, with particular attention to rare diseases and comorbidities. Study the possibility of integrating these models in the context of telemedicine programmes for screening, referral, early diagnosis, and post-therapeutic follow-up, also with Health Technology Assessment (HTA) methods and tools.
