Organizational Setting The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems. Reporting Lines The Communication Specialist will report to and work under the overall supervision of the Knowledge Management Officer in OCB. Technical Focus Technical advice on the planning, design, and implementation of communications and outreach for projects, strategies, and services in connection with the FAO Strategic Objectives. Tasks and Responsibilities Experience and demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas of work: Support and contribute to the preparation, production, and dissemination of knowledge materials, including reports, press releases, social media posts, newsletters, and speeches. Proofread, edit, and ensure all written material adheres to FAO guidelines. Develop stories of change and impact based on OCB project results. Showcase the results and achievements of FAO programmes and projects. Coordinate the production of knowledge products and liaise with graphic designers. Create new webpages and maintain relevant websites. Support outreach and promotion of key publications and events. Compile analytics of social media channels for reporting. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING University degree in communications, journalism, sustainable development or a related field. At least 1-10 years of relevant experience in communications for development. Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English. FAO Core Competencies Experience in developing communication campaigns and establishing partnerships. Strong media outreach skills. Excellent analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to operate effectively as part of a team. Selection Criteria Experience working on issues related to gender, youth, education, or capacity building. Knowledge of digital communication tools and platforms. Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
