Database Developer (Snowflake)

Database Developer Apex Systems is a Global IT Services Firm and our Staffing practice is looking for an Data Engineer to place at our client, a Big Five Bank. You will be joining a highly collaborative, fast paced and high performing team. Client: Big Five Bank Length of Contract: 6 months contract with potential perm conversion Working Location: Hybrid, downtown Toronto Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Skills Database Developer with 5 years of experience in any Database – Snowflake, MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase Snowflake Expertise – Nice to have / Preferred. Strong Experience in SQL Database Development Strong Query Tuning & Optimization skills Good Python Scripting knowledge Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology Asset Management / Wealth Management knowledge (Data) – Nice to Have Excellent Team Player Responsibilities Development with Snowflake features such as Snow SQL, Python Data warehousing - OLTP, OLAP, Dimensions, Facts, and Data modeling. Developing EL pipelines in and out of data warehouse using combination of Python and Snow SQL. Design, implementation and operationalization of large-scale data and analytics solutions on Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse. Developing scripts PowerShell, Python etc. to Extract, Load and Transform data, as well as other utility functions. Provide production support for Data Warehouse issues such data load problems, transformation, translation problems. Translate mapping specifications to data transformation design and development strategies and code, incorporating standards and best practices for optimal execution. Understanding data pipelines and modern ways of automating data pipeline and clearly document implementations, so others can easily understand the requirements, implementation, and test conditions. Perform code reviews to ensure fit to requirements, optimal execution patterns and adherence to established standards.
