Senior Corporate Accountant

Job Description

Role Purpose Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Corporate Accountant will work closely with the Finance Team to achieve: Prepare the monthly balance sheet, account reconciliations and schedules. Review and compile the balance sheet reconciliations prepared by divisions. Prepare accurate and timely P&L for Corporate Business Units. Perform monthly variance analysis, and review budget-to-actual comparisons with each Business Unit head to identify trends and potential issues. Reconcile bank accounts and troubleshooting any unreconciled items with treasury and divisions. Reconcile payroll accounts and troubleshoot any unreconciled items with the payroll team. Lead the monthly and yearly book-closing process, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Manage journal entries and review of general ledger accounts and ensuring compliance and accuracy. Maintain working paper files for year-end audits and legal entity accounting reporting. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and tax regulations. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement the new process. Undertake ad-hoc projects assigned by the Controller. Position Requirements University degree and professional accounting designation or equivalent work experience. 7 years in accounting and finance roles. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Extensive experience with financial systems and reporting tools. Working knowledge in JDE is an asset. Excellent time and self-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask. Knowledge of and working experience with IFRS accounting standards is an asset. Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment. Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business. Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities. Versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
