Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Assessor Location: Durham Region, Ontario Job Type: 1-Year Contract Salary: $50 - $80 per hour About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Assessor to support maintenance and operational activities within a nuclear facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing work requests, preparing detailed work instructions, and coordinating the procurement of necessary materials and resources. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, nuclear plant processes, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: Review and assess work requests, work orders, and preventive maintenance predefines to determine scope and requirements. Convert existing work plans into comprehensive and detailed work instructions. Assemble all necessary data and information for planned work activities. Identify and order spare parts required for preventive and corrective maintenance. Evaluate the work environment to determine applicable maintenance support programs, including but not limited to: Radiation Protection Fire Protection Industrial Safety Conduct equipment walk-downs to verify deficiencies and ensure equipment configuration aligns with requirements. Review and select relevant sketches, drawings, and procedures to include in work order packages. Prepare and manage work protection documents, such as: Work Permits Confined Space Permits Hot Work Permits Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Task Safety Analysis (TSA) Radiological and Fire Protection Plans Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) and Waste Handling Plans Research and utilize design manuals, manufacturer manuals, drawings, and Bills of Material. Identify required materials and ensure compliance with design specifications. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure materials are ordered, staged, and meet required specifications. Track material requests, monitor delivery timelines, and issue expediting requests as necessary. Qualifications & Requirements: Grade XII education (High School Diploma or equivalent). Completion of a 2-year diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Instrumentation Technology from a College of Applied Arts and Technology. Strong understanding of nuclear plant equipment and processes, including: Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) Radiation Protection Control of Flammable Materials Pressure Vessel Codes Experience reviewing and preparing technical work instructions and maintenance work orders. Familiarity with industrial safety standards and work protection requirements. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and design documentation. Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with various teams, including maintenance, engineering, and procurement. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a nuclear facility or heavy industrial environment. Knowledge of asset management and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards for nuclear operations.
