About the Role On behalf of our client in the Banking industry , Astek Canada is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer ready to take on new challenges. Your Responsibilities As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for: Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist. Actively seek continuous improvement and automation opportunities within the testing process. Acquire and apply expertise in the quality engineering discipline, provide guidance, assistance and direction to others. Identify, recommend and effectively execute standard practices applicable to the discipline. Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts. Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite. Serve as a partner and provide ongoing support to the enterprise and/or business, aligning to Testing Methodology. Analyze the end to end solution (business, solution requirements, architecture, blue prints, etc.) requirements to recommend pragmatic and sound test specific solutions for own area; may analyze, develop, debug, and maintain test suites (automated/ manual), traceability matrix; and log defects/assist in defect resolution, as required. Your Qualifications Education/Experience: BS degree in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline. 5-7 years of relevant experience. Key Skills: Experienced working professional role providing specialized testing planning, design, automation and execution services. Solid debugging and problem-solving skills – solving moderately complex problems. Supports the introduction and adherence to new / advanced techniques and approaches in testing and automation (e.g. BDD, Rapid Software Testing). Foundational experience in software configuration and code management. Intermediate expertise in build / code / release management to enable defect avoidance. Solid business and technology acumen, works with other stakeholders to identify opportunities to benefit the Bank and / or introduce operational improvements. Ability to drive work efforts related to moderately complex applications / systems / projects within one product line / business. Must Have: Functional QA (testing process knowledge) – 4 years. Automation testing hands on- using Java and Selenium – 3 years. Java experience – 3 years. CICD (Jenkins and Maven) – 2 years hands on experience. Agile experience – 2 years. API - hands on automation testing experience – 1 year. Personal Qualities: Analytical and solution-oriented mindset. Team collaboration and teamwork skills. Autonomy and rigor in managing priorities.
