Our client, a fast-growing multidisciplined consulting firm with expertise in geotechnical and environmental engineering, materials testing and surveying, is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer, ideally with project experience relating to BC Hydro, BC Ministry of Transportation and/or Alberta Infrastructure. This is a full-time, permanent role, with the option of being hybrid/in-office out of their Calgary base, or fully remote for the right candidate (available to those residing in BC or AB). The approximate salary range for this position is $85-115k, depending on years and relevance of prior experience. There is also a competitive vacation and benefits package included. Reporting to Principal Engineer the Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for conducting and leading geotechnical investigations and analysis, designing foundations and slope stability assessment, providing technical support on geotechnical aspect of projects. Writing geotechnical reports, specifications, and other deliverables related to a variety of geotechnical projects. Responsibilities: Site Investigation • Conduct geotechnical site investigations to assess soil and rock conditions. • Supervise and participate in fieldwork, including soil sampling, drilling, and testing. Geotechnical Analysis • Perform geotechnical analyses and interpret data to assess soil stability, bearing capacity, and foundation design parameters. • Analyze slope stability, settlement, and other geotechnical aspects to provide recommendations for construction projects. Report Writing • Prepare clear and concise geotechnical reports detailing findings, analysis, and recommendations for clients and project teams. • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Quality Assurance • Ensure that geotechnical engineering work complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. • Conduct quality assurance checks on data, analysis, and reports. Project Management • Assist in project management tasks, such as scheduling, and resource allocation for geotechnical activities. • Monitor project progress and ensure that geotechnical milestones are achieved. • Interact with clients to understand project requirements, discuss findings, and provide recommendations. • Address client inquiries and concerns regarding geotechnical aspects of projects. Qualifications: • 3-5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in a consulting environment. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering. • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Designation in Alberta or BC. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Environmental Phase 1 and Phase 2 is an asset.
