Cover Supervisor Southampton - Flexible

U-Educate is looking for a reliable and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a school in Southampton on a flexible day-to-day basis, starting immediately. This role offers you the opportunity to work in a dynamic school environment, providing valuable support by covering lessons in the absence of the regular class teacher. As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise students across different subjects, ensuring they stay on task, manage their behaviour, and continue to make progress with their studies. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive and productive classroom atmosphere, encouraging students to stay engaged and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexibility and variety, as you’ll be working on a day-to-day basis, covering a wide range of subjects and age groups across the school. Key Responsibilities: Supervising Lessons: Take charge of classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring students follow the lesson plan and engage with their work. Behaviour Management: Manage student behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive and respectful classroom environment. Supporting Student Learning: Assist students with tasks as needed, ensuring they understand the lesson objectives and complete their work to the best of their ability. Maintaining Order: Ensure the classroom remains calm and productive, addressing any issues that may arise during lessons. Providing Feedback: At the end of the lesson, report back to teachers regarding student behaviour and the completion of tasks. Ideal Candidate: Experience: Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting, is beneficial but not essential. A strong interest in education is key. Adaptability: You should be flexible and comfortable working in different classrooms and with different subject areas on a day-to-day basis. Strong Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with students and staff is important to succeed in this role. Behaviour Management Skills: You should have a calm and assertive approach to managing student behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment. Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills are essential, as you will need to quickly adapt to new classroom environments and lesson plans. Positive and Professional Attitude: A friendly yet professional approach is key to building rapport with students and staff. Enhanced DBS Check: An enhanced child-barred list DBS certificate, registered with the online update service, is required, or you must be willing to apply for a new check.
