Job Description
Electrical Technician Overview: The Electrical Technician will be part of the O&M team responsible for inspecting and maintaining HV and LV assets under ongoing maintenance agreements. The role involves HV/LV installation jobs across various sites, including wind (onshore and offshore), solar, AD, and battery storage. The Technician will work on a portfolio of new onshore wind turbine sites, performing HV commissioning and cable termination works. Key Responsibilities: Inspection & Maintenance: Perform inspections and maintenance on LV/HV substation equipment. Cable Jointing & Terminations: Undertake HV/LV jointing, including specialist cable terminations. Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults and carry out troubleshooting tasks on electrical systems. Installation Work: Install switchgear, transformers, and other electrical components. Testing: Conduct testing of earthing and associated equipment, as well as LV electrical testing. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety and environmental standards. Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team on-site, following instructions and work packs. Continuous Development: Attend required training courses and engage in continuous development opportunities. Service Improvement: Actively seek improvements to service delivery and implement effective practices. Client Relations: Promote a positive image to clients. Skills & Competencies: Health & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with current Health and Safety legislation and the importance of safety in the industry, including CDM. Electrical Engineering Skills: Ability to perform electrical testing and fault-finding on HV/LV systems. Qualifications/Experience: Essential: Emergency First Aid & Manual Handling certification. Full Clean Driving License. Ability to complete GWO training and associated offshore medical. Strong IT skills. Desirable: Current HV Authorisation at technician or jointer/fitter level (11kV and 33kV private networks or DNO). CSCS/ECS Card. City & Guilds Inspection and Testing. ONC/BTEC – Electrical Engineering or equivalent. LV/HV Cable Jointing experience. MEWP Licence. Scaffolding (PASMA). Proven experience in industrial electrical engineering and installation. Ability to read electrical drawings and flow diagrams. Salary & Package: • Full time permanent position • Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 - Private Health Insurance, Performance bonuses. • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holiday
