Job Description

We are currently working with a school based in Norfolk, and they are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant with a specialisation in SEN on a full-time basis, start date ASAP. Job Description To complement the professional work of teachers by supporting learning activities in line with the school's policies and guidance. This may involve supporting learning activities for individuals, groups, or whole classes, as well as supporting assessment, recording, and reporting on achievement, behavior for learning, progress, and development. Main Responsibilities: Support for Learning: Organise appropriate learning environments and resources. Support teaching and learning activities for individuals, groups, or the whole class within an agreed system of supervision. Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against defined learning intentions. Provide objective and accurate feedback on pupil achievement, progress, and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence. Work within the school's behavior policy to anticipate and manage behavior positively, promoting self-control and independence. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners within the classroom. Encourage learners to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all learners in activities. Promote independence and employ strategies to recognize and reward achievement and self-reliance. Provide feedback to learners in relation to progress and achievement. Work collaboratively with professionals from other agencies to support pupil’s learning. Support or deliver learning activities within an agreed system of supervision, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs. Run safeguarding cases as agreed with the DSL. Report trends and data patterns to SLT. School Level Responsibilities: Supervise pupils during break times (including before and after the pupils’ normal school day) and plan and organize play and club activities as appropriate. Attend staff meetings as required within contracted hours. Respect the confidentiality of pupil information and respond sensitively to pupils’ needs. Comply with and assist with the development of policies and procedures related to child protection, health, safety, security, quality assurance, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting concerns to an appropriate person. Support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the organization. Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the teacher, to support the achievement and progress of pupils. Recognise own strengths and areas of specialist expertise and use these to lead, advise, and support others. Promote the protection and safeguarding of learners through the active implementation of relevant school policies and procedures, with reference to child protection policy, touch policy, positive behavior policy, positive handling policy, and the staff code of conduct. Raise any concerns relating to such procedures noted during duty. Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher or their nominee. Person Specification: Experience: Working with SEN children of relevant age in a learning environment. Experience with special educational needs. Knowledge/Skills: Proficient in using ICT to support learning, effective communication both verbally and in writing, good organizational skills, ability to relate well to children and adults, work constructively as part of a team, and demonstrate a commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people. Continuing Professional Development: Constantly improve own practice/knowledge through self-evaluation and learning from others
