Packhouse Manager

Our client, a farm situated in the Stellenbosch area , has an exciting vacancy for a Packhouse Manager . Our clients packhouse picks multiple crops for local and national retailers and wholesalers. The ideal candidate is an energetic and experienced individual with excellent communication and leadership skills to manage large teams. In addition, the incumbent has the ability to effectively delegate responsibilities, and apply problem-solving skills in a high-pressure environment. The Packhouse Manager will report to the Directors and will be responsible for overseeing all packhouse activities. Duties will include: Managing a workforce of over 250 workers in season, and approximately 30 out of season Planning all production and logistics Liaising with customers to complete and deliver orders in an efficient and timeous manner Working with the QA team to ensure compliance against customer standards, as well as ensuring compliance with quality documentation that requires completion and verification all other tasks related to the role. Requirements: Matric required, a tertiary qualification will be advantageous; Experience in a similar managerial role in an agricultural packhouse / production environment, including experience with berries ; A good understanding of various quality Standards (HAACP, FSSC22000, SIZA & Farming for the Future); Completion of an accredited FSSC22000 course will be advantageous; Willingness to work hours as per industry requirements (including weekends and overtime as necessary).
