It combines the effectiveness of Machine Learning approaches with the transparency of Logic-based systems. Integrative AI architectures have been investigated for a number of domains (e.g., in computer vision) but are not deeply investigated in the construction of predictive models for temporal event data. To achieve this, the applicant will work on two tasks: Definition of novel integrative AI techniques for the training of predictive models for temporal event data using temporal background knowledge. This investigation will start from recent works that aim to combine Deterministic Finite Automata (DFAs) with numeric approaches such as genetic algorithms or Recurrent Neural Networks.
