Electrical Maintenance Engineer (534/25904) Location: Hereford (HR2) Commutable from: Hereford, Ross-on-Wye , Coleford, Ledbury , Monmouth Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday - Double Days ( 6.00am to 2.00pm / 2.00pm to 10.00pm Benefits: Pension scheme Bonus scheme Plenty of Overtime Ongoing training and development 25 days' annual leave Our prestigious client, a leading manufacturer in the heavy industry sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of their critical electrical and automation systems. With a strong commitment to operational excellence and minimizing downtime, they require a proactive and technically proficient professional to join their maintenance team. Role and Responsibilities: Lead the electrical maintenance team in responding to breakdowns and equipment failures, diagnosing root causes, and implementing effective and timely repairs. Propose and execute upgrades and modifications to outdated electrical and automation equipment, focusing on enhancing reliability and maintainability. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on projects involving electrical and automation system improvements, ensuring alignment with maintenance best practices. Provide electrical and automation expertise to address critical equipment failures, develop robust troubleshooting procedures, and document all maintenance activities accurately. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all electrical and automation systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance records. Develop and deliver training programs for maintenance staff on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and automation equipment. Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs for electrical and automation systems, including testing, calibration, and inspection. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards during all maintenance activities. Manage spare parts inventory for electrical and automation equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels to minimize downtime. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and equipment, including power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation. Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical and automation systems in a heavy industry environment. Proficiency with Schneider, Rockwell, or SEW equipment is highly desirable. Experience in managing electrical maintenance projects, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting. Familiarity with SCADA systems, ideally Wonderware, for monitoring and controlling industrial processes. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a maintenance environment. Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (e.g., steel, cement, mining) is highly advantageous. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and standards, including electrical safety. Possession of a recognised apprenticeship and relevant electrical qualifications up to ONC/HNC level is essential, with a preference for candidates holding a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
