Red Recruitment 24:7 are actomg as recruitiment consultants for our well established client based in the Scunthorpe area. Due to expansion we are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer on their behalf. PURPOSE OF JOB Overseeing all aspects of the purchasing/buying function, including sourcing, negotiating, day to day buying activity, and manging supplier relationships. Principal Responsibilities Negotiating pricing and other commercial terms with suppliers to improve cost base and deliver savings Identifying buying strategies, achieving lowest total cost to the business, whilst ensuring quality, reliability and resilience of supply and meeting the company’s environmental and sustainability requirements Working with colleagues to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and resolve any risks identified Identification and assessment of new suppliers Completing supplier reviews including monitoring and reporting on supplier delivery & quality performance Working proactively to resolve any supply issues Liaise with production staff on material issues and needs Cost saving projects Management of Indirect spend contracts Assisting the Procurement and Supply Chain Manager with administration and other duties as required Principal Accountabilities Ensure excellent supplier relationships are maintained Ensure accurate forecasting and reporting Ensure systems and databases are maintained and updated. Ensure supply chain risks are identified and mitigated daily. EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Previous procurement experience within a fast-paced procurement department and production facility Excellent planning and organisational skills Excellent communication and negotiating skills, ability to communicate at all levels Proactive thinking and acting Ability to work independently and as part of a team QUALIFICATIONS GCSE standard of equivalent in English and Maths Proficient in using standard computer packages including Excel, Word and Outlook Experience in using an ERP system such as Sage or SAP
