Controls Engineer

Job: Controls Engineer, Edinburgh We are seeking a results-driven, innovative, and creative Controls Engineer to join a client in Edinburgh. Your primary focus will be maintaining current control platforms and assisting in project design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning. Key Responsibilities: Design and troubleshoot process control systems. Engineer, design, and test electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems. PLC/HMI hardware/software design, programming, and troubleshooting. Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic. Design and implement process network infrastructure. Communicate with vendors, process engineering, contractors, and project management. Specify and procure controls hardware and field instrumentation. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and government regulations. Key Competencies: Strong understanding of PLC ladder logic and process control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc). Ability to design/enhance HMI applications. Skilled in diagnosing and repairing complex electrical problems. Knowledge of automation and electrical system design. Familiarity with applicable Electrical Codes. Experience in plant commissioning. Effective communication skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
