Job Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise, fully compliant, and competitive tenders. It is essential to ensure the timely, accurate, and comprehensive preparation and submission of tender documents, adhering to all specified requirements. Minimum Requirements: Advanced Proficiency of CCS estimating and planning modules. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook) and Adobe. Sound knowledge of standard contract documentation (GCC, NEC, FIDIC, JBCC) and specifications (SANS/COLTO/COTO). Ability to review the tender documentation and identify any potential risk and/or gains. Ability to do take offs and prepare sub-contracting and buying schedules Implement and manage tender buying for materials and sub-contracting packages Able to, from time to time travel to site inspections for tenders which may include overnight stay Minimum Level of Education and Training: Degree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. At least 5 years experience as an Estimator at a medium to large construction company. Minimum 5 years on-site experience in the construction industry. Preferably in the Roads and Earthworks and/or Township services industries. Knowledge Areas: The Incumbent should have knowledge of-, and experience in the following: Strong working knowledge of civil, roads, structural (concrete), mechanical and electrical discipline and the capacity to understand unique project requirements. Construction materials, especially civil and roads infrastructure. Relevant suppliers and Subcontractors in civil engineering and roads environment. Knowledge of civil engineering and roads productivity and wastage rates. The Candidate should have the following desired attributes: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines. Ability to work independently while exercising great judgement. Strong administration, organizational and inter-personal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent numerical reasoning skills, with a strong ability to analyse and interpret complex data. The Ideal Candidates daily tasks and duties is as follows: Searching for relevant tenders on various platforms. Attend tender inspections and assess the scope of work and risks. Review project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work. Prepare quotation requests. Quantity take-off from drawings to evaluate accuracy of Bill of Quantities when tendering. Compare and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Accurately complete and submit tenders by applying estimating practices within deadlines, to secure profitable contracts. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors following successful award of tender. Hand off project and proposals to Operations Teams following the successful award of tender. Maintain records and electronic filing system for each tender. Continuously update the Supplier and Subcontractor database with new vendors.
