Electrical Engineer / Electrical Improver Wakefield Hours : Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Pay : Circa £16 - £17 per hour We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer / Electrical Improver to join our maintenance team in Wakefield. Reporting to the Technical Supervisors, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of electrical services and building systems for our valued clients. Key Responsibilities Maintenance : Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive work orders on electrical systems, ensuring timely completion. Compliance : Work in line with Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and statutory requirements. Act as a certified Appointed Person for low-voltage critical systems. Fault Diagnosis : Analyze and resolve issues in hospital infrastructure, including low-voltage distribution, emergency lighting, UPS, IPS systems, and standby generators. Reporting : Complete PPM records, task/risk assessments, and test certificates. Update the site CAFM system using electronic devices. Teamwork : Collaborate with the wider M&E team, support other trades when required, and supervise subcontractors. Safety & Standards : Ensure all work complies with statutory regulations, site safety protocols, and fire/infection control guidelines. Qualifications & Experience Recognised Electrical/Engineering Apprenticeship (HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent). BS7671 (18th Edition) certification. Experience in electrical maintenance, particularly within healthcare or similar environments. Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and CAFM systems. Ability to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance. About You You're a proactive problem-solver with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
