Job Description
Our client, a well-established and reputable Civil Engineering Main Contractor with an annual turnover of £150 million, is seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis in Glasgow. You will be part of a team responsible for commercially managing multiple projects from tender through to final account, providing commercial support to operational teams and others as required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established, dynamic, and approachable team working on power projects across Scotland. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial control systems, including but not limited to: Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations. Ensuring valuations are maximised, certified, and paid on time. Managing any variations to contracts in a timely manner. Forecasting costs and values across all trades. Liaising with and assisting the operational team in securing labour, materials, and subcontractors to ensure contracts are completed on time and within budget. Monitoring on-site progress and taking the lead in issuing required notices in accordance with contract procedures and timescales. Ensuring that all quotations are carefully vetted and comply with the specification, securing the most competitive bids. Preparing Final Accounts. Managing subcontractor accounts accurately and effectively to enhance contract performance. The ideal candidate will have a methodical approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and the following attributes: Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying. Previous experience in a similar role. Experience within the civil engineering power sector. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working with key cost-based software packages. Essential NEC experience. Good interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.
