About Transcona Roofing Established in 1959, we are a full service roofing and waterproofing contractor dedicated to building long term relationships with our customers through the installation, repair, & maintenance of industrial, commercial & institutional buildings. The Project Manager is responsible to provide management oversight for all phases of project installations including coordinating employees, subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is being performed with quality, on schedule and within budget. Major Job Areas and Responsibilities: Production Management Prepare schedules and organize work plan for the production crews Determine materials required for each project; order the materials and coordinate deliveries directly to the work site Check delivery of material against purchase orders and handle any discrepancies Monitor the materials to ensure appropriate materials are on site at all times Liaise with the General Contractor and other project stakeholders regarding project progress, scheduling, change orders and any project issues Work collaboratively with cross-functional team (Estimating, Accounting, Site, etc.) to supply information and implement solutions Review roofing design to plan the sequence of work. Identify any practical problems in achieving the planned result and discuss any necessary changes with the general contractor Maintain frequent contact with site supervisor and perform site visits to monitor and maintain the project construction schedule Ensure compliance with on field safety regulations Ensure overall quality and performance of work done is according to project specifications Client Relations & Business Development Establish and maintain existing relationships with stakeholders Billing & Reporting Assist with progress billings/invoices on a monthly basis Assist with the monthly work in progress (WIP) report for each job Payroll Train all production foreman on the payroll app to record time worked for each production crew member Review and approve all time worked to ensure accuracy on a daily basis for all crew members Track and report on project costs and schedules Education & Experience High school diploma required; additional degree in Engineering (P.Eng) or diploma in Engineering Technology (CET) is recommended 4 years’ experience in the construction industry Previous experience in project costing and planning (essential) Knowledge of roofing techniques and materials Strong blueprint reading skills Proficiency in Computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite Key Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships Has a strong customer-service focus ensuring client’s needs are met and dealt with professionally Good organization and time management skills, keen sense of urgency ensuring all deadlines are met Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good judgement and decision making skills Strong planning, organizing, scheduling and follow up skills Working Conditions Work in an office environment 50% of the time Visit worksites, climb up/down ladders, bending/crouching Physically lift and maneuver heavily weighted material, potentially overhead Time required to work is 45 – 50 hours a week (based on seasonal conditions) Shifting demands and priorities, must be flexible and adapt to change Frequent interruptions Valid driver’s licence and clean abstract is required
