No Offer Description The outcomes of patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and acute respiratory failure (ARF) treated with mechanical ventilation (MV) remain unclear, particularly regarding ventilation modalities and their association with mortality. The study aims to define the mortality rates of ILD patients with ARF who are treated with MV, exploring whether differences in mortality exist between those receiving non-invasive versus invasive ventilation. Additionally, we aim to identify predictive factors linked to increased mortality among this patient population. We will enroll adult patients with fibrosing ILD and ARF admitted to the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Careggi University Hospital. Patients with ARDS, COVID-19-related pneumonia, and ARF after surgery will be excluded. We will compare the outcomes of patients treated with NIV to those receiving IMV with or without NIV, and assess mortality predictors using multivariate analysis.
