Job Title: Senior Fundraising Officer The Senior Fundraising Officer will play a critical role in sustaining and expanding the funding base of Caritas Internationalis. This role focuses on maintaining strong relationships with current donors, growing our donor database, and developing innovative fundraising strategies targeting corporate, high-net-worth individuals, and Catholic faithful, particularly in the Vatican. The Senior Fundraising Officer will design and execute impactful fundraising campaigns and ensure comprehensive, accurate, and transparent reporting on all fundraising activities. Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy and Policies: Develop and constantly update the fundraising strategy for the General Secretariat of Caritas Internationalis tailored to each donor segment. Participate in the coordination and monitoring of the Fundraising Unit. Develop and recommend fundraising policies, procedures, and budgets required to support fundraising activities. Create an annual calendar of fundraising activities with specific targets. Design bespoke giving opportunities, such as legacy giving, donations, and named giving, that appeal to high-net-worth individuals and corporate partners. Research and identify new fundraising trends and platforms to keep Caritas Internationalis at the forefront of fundraising innovation. Donor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors, ensuring ongoing support and satisfaction. Regularly communicate with donors, providing updates on impact and milestones achieved. Develop tailored engagement plans for different donor segments. New Donor Acquisition: Identify and engage potential new donors, focusing on corporate, high-net-worth individuals, and Catholic institutions. Develop a targeted approach for reaching high-potential donor segments, particularly in the Vatican and broader Catholic networks. Work with cross-functional teams to leverage organisational networks and partnerships for donor growth. Campaign Design and Management: Plan, execute, and monitor successful fundraising campaigns that increase engagement and donations. Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling messaging visuals and outreach materials. Coordinate campaign timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring effective utilisation of resources. Fundraising Reporting and Analysis: Produce regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, including impact reports, financial summaries, and donor updates. Track and analyse fundraising performance data to guide strategic planning and improve future fundraising activities. Ensure all data is recorded and reported accurately in compliance with the Caritas Internationalis privacy policy in force. Stakeholder Engagement and Networking: Build strong relationships with influential stakeholders within corporates. Act as a liaison between Caritas Internationalis and key Vatican contacts, enhancing connections and opening doors for collaboration. Qualifications University degrees in Business, Communications, Non-profit Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage. Minimum 7 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record in donor management, corporate fundraising, and high-net-worth donor engagement. Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) in two of the Confederation languages (English and Italian). Knowledge of Spanish and French is an asset. Strong understanding of the non-profit sector and fundraising landscape. Demonstrated success in creating and implementing successful fundraising campaigns. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, corporate entities, and religious institutions. Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems. Highly organised and detail-oriented with a strategic mind-set. Culturally sensitive, particularly with an understanding of Catholic faith, Vatican structures, and networks. Innovative and adaptable, with a commitment to finding creative fundraising solutions. Capacity to work in a diverse team and a multicultural environment with a spirit of respect and service. Understanding of an "accompanying attitude" and ability to promote it with Member Organisations. Capacity and willingness to be flexible and to work well under pressure. Capacity and willingness to work with discretion regarding matters of high confidentiality or importance. Adaptability, flexibility, and availability to travel in different countries, even with short-term notice. Experience in Caritas or other Church organisations would be an asset. Innovative thinker with creative ideas to streamline Caritas Internationalis content outputs. Demonstrable empathy and respect for the faith and values of the Catholic Church. Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of Catholic Social Teaching in which Caritas’ works in firmly rooted.
