Waste Manager (Public Sector)

Overview: Our public sector client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Waste Manager to oversee the management, development, and operation of their waste management services. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team delivering waste collection, street cleansing, and recycling services to the highest standards, contributing to environmental sustainability and community wellbeing. Key Responsibilities: Provide effective leadership for waste operations, including staff, facilities, budgets, and equipment. Develop and implement strategic policies, performance improvement plans, and risk management frameworks. Oversee waste collections, street cleansing services, and recycling centres to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. Drive operational efficiency, manage budgets, and monitor performance. Lead staff training, motivation, and performance evaluations to ensure team excellence. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including trade unions, staff, and community representatives. Prepare management reports and attend council meetings as required. What We're Looking For: A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Environmental Management, or 5 years of demonstrable experience in waste operations. A proven track record in managing operational teams, budgets, and facilities. Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with waste management operations, including collections, recycling, and street cleansing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels. A valid driving license or access to suitable transport.
