Mission Reporting to the Country Manager in Italy, the Business Development Associate Director will be responsible for the development team and will lead the business development strategy focused on organic growth through ground-up renewable energy project development. This role is essential to drive the Italy Business Unit’s expansion by identifying, developing and sourcing ground-up projects from initial concept to execution. The role will focus on establishing a robust pipeline of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and hybrid solutions, across the Italian market. As the Business Development Associate Director you will work to ensure ground-up project development strategies are tailored to local regulations, market conditions and technical requirements, while aligning with the company’s overall growth objectives. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s long-term leadership in renewable energy development. Responsibilities Lead the Italian organic development team, providing leadership, mentorship and strategic direction to ensure project milestones are met and greenfield development is executed effectively across Italy. Lead new project development efforts, driving the identification and development of new renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and hybrid technologies, from the ground up. Oversee the full new project lifecycle, from site identification, land acquisition, and permitting through to construction and grid connection, ensuring projects meet corporate and local objectives. Ensure projects are tailored to regional regulations, market needs, and environmental conditions. Develop a robust new project pipeline, identifying new market opportunities, securing land rights, and ensuring regulatory compliance across Italy. Maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including landowners, local governments, regulatory agencies, and utilities, to facilitate project development and approvals. Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory and safety standards in greenfield project development, navigating complex local regulatory landscapes. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, positioning the company as a leader in greenfield development and ensuring long-term sustainability and profitability. Contribute to the company’s renewable energy growth objectives, delivering a pipeline of greenfield projects that support the company’s long-term vision for the energy transition and market leadership. Job Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or relevant management qualification is advantageous. 10 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on greenfield development and the origination of utility-scale projects. Position requires availability for national and international travel, up to 30% of the time, to oversee project development efforts and establish relationships with stakeholders in multiple regions.
