Job Description
Organisation/Company: Università degli studi di Firenze Research Field: Physics » Other Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2), Leading Researcher (R4), First Stage Researcher (R1), Established Researcher (R3) Country: Italy Application Deadline: 28 Jan 2025 - 08:00 (UTC) Type of Contract: To be defined Job Status: Not Applicable Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description The candidate’s project aims to develop a dosimetric system based on synthetic diamond to monitor ionizing radiation in the lunar environment, crucial for future human bases. Synthetic diamond is selected for its outstanding properties, including radiation resistance, thermal stability, and a linear response to various radiation types (protons, alpha, beta, neutrons). The system will enable real-time radiation field monitoring and integrate with radiobiological models to assess health risks, such as cellular damage and radiation-induced diseases. The project includes lunar radiation field simulations, prototype development, testing in simulated environments, and validation of results. The ultimate goal is to enhance safety during long-term space missions and ensure the protection of humans during extended stays on the Moon. This activity will be developed with a leading company in the space segment. J-18808-Ljbffr
