Job Description

Data Engineer Type: Contract (3 months) Location: Remote, with occasional visits to London office Start Date: Immediate EM006 About the Role: Finatal is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team for a 3-month contract with the potential for extension. As part of our private equity-backed IT services business, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our migration from SQL to Google BigQuery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend engineering, with expertise in data loading, ingestion, and ETL processes from various data sources, such as Salesforce. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement data pipelines for migrating from SQL to Google BigQuery. Develop and optimize ETL workflows to integrate data from multiple sources, including Salesforce. Write and execute efficient SQL and Python scripts to process, clean, and transform large datasets. Utilize API and ETL methods to integrate data into internal back-end systems. Create and maintain documentation for data pipeline processes and architecture. Support the team in leveraging Google BigQuery for analytics and reporting purposes. Work with visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Looker to provide actionable insights. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly to ensure seamless data operations. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in an IT services or private equity-backed environment. Strong scripting skills in SQL and Python. Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, including its architecture and advanced features. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Looker. Expertise in developing ETL pipelines and integrating with APIs. Knowledge of Salesforce data structures and integration methods is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
