Strategic Relationships and Democracy Manager (Strategic Support Manager) Location: Basildon Salary: £30-35 per hour (inside IR35) Contract Type: 3-6 month, Full Time Working Style: 3 days in the office Please note: you will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week. Are you immediately available and actively looking for a new challenge this year? Do you have experience working within a local authority or public sector setting and providing high-level support to leadership team as well as managing a support team? Key Responsibilities: This is a pivotal position where you will provide personal support to the Chief Executive, Executive Director, and Assistant Director. You will ensure all arrangements and activities are legally compliant and fit for purpose, applying your deep sector knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and policies. In this role, you will lead a dynamic team, delivering proactive, collaborative, and effective support to the Chief Executive and other members of the Leadership Team. Your work will be crucial in shaping and maintaining strategic relationships, supporting processes, and ensuring smooth governance operations. Required Skills and Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a local authority or public sector setting. Strong political awareness with the ability to identify issues and risks and provide strategic advice to senior leaders. Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inform a wide range of stakeholders. Exceptional communication and relationship management skills. Experience in writing comprehensive reports for consideration by senior leadership teams. Proven line management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop team members.
