Join a Leading Organisation in the Nuclear Industry. Role Details: Altrad are currently expanding due to a number of project successes within our Major projects business. To support this growth we are looking to recruit a Principal Civil & Structural Designer with expertise in RC Detailing, E3D and AutoCAD or similar design software, supporting both Greenfield and Brownfield Petrochemical or Process Plant projects. The opportunity will be based in our Renfrew office with hybrid working arrangements on a staff basis, you will be working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities: Day to day you will be responsible for developing and preparing detailed civil and structural design documents, including layouts, modelling, GA & detail drawings including RC detailing. When required you will be expected to support the Principal/Lead engineer in reviewing and checking design deliverables. As part of the opportunity you may also participate in site visits and surveys to gather information for design development. You will also: Provides coaching and mentoring for direct reports. Actively supports recruitment, selection, transfers and promotion of resources to meet succession and business plans. Support the development and retention of motivated and competent people. Ensures competence of deputies. Manages performance of direct reports. Continuous promotion of and, adherence to the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement. Participate in incident investigations as required. Set performance expectations for direct reports. Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development. Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development. Provide discipline support to the business. Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realised. Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation. Key Requirements: Qualifications & Experience: HND in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline and/or minimum 10 years relevant experience. Relevant experience in design software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. A self-starter who can also thrive in team settings. A commitment to ethical and professional standards. Genuine enthusiasm for engineering and continuous personal development. Key Competencies: Coaching and mentoring Good knowledge of civil and structural design principles. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Proficiency in using relevant design software. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently. Understanding of materials and construction processes used in civil and structural engineering. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
