Role Details Role:Applications Engineer Reporting to: Sales Manager, Peter Campbell Sales Function: Sales & Business Development Job Purpose / Summary With a turnover of €3.15 billion in 2023, RUBIX is the largest supplier of industrial maintenance & distribution network in Europe. We are present in 22 countries with more than 8,000 employees. Rubix Cutting & Machining in the UK is a specialist £47m per annum business unit providing over 1,000 customers with nationwide product supply, specials and regrinds manufacture, product proving and engineered solutions. Within the business unit are Matrix A Rubix Company, Peter Campbell Sales (PCS) A Rubix Company and West Country Tools (WCT) A Rubix Company alongside a Rubix category management team. An opportunity has arisen for an Application Engineer to join PCS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the current sales team within a technical application engineer role. The geographical area required being Scotland West & Central and additionally Northeast England . Knowledge of the Aerospace, Oil & Gas& Automotive industries and their relevant components and materials is vital. A good knowledge of cutting tools and programming strategies is also required, however training will be provided on products supplied to PCS by various suppliers. The ideal candidate will have had experience of working within an engineering environment and has experience of working on their own initiative. CNC programming knowledge is also preferred. Key Responsibilities Support sales team to give technical assistance within End User Companies Report to sales team & sales manager on progress of technical projects Provide customers with technical reports and cost saving opportunities Work on own initiative to generate new opportunities Be part of a team that can respond to the requirements of customers Provide product training to customers The role will also require short periods working away from base with overnight stays away from home required Main Tasks and Deliverables: To work with the external sales team and local management on the opportunities within the customer base in your geographical area or territory Develop good working relationships with relevant stakeholders in both new and existing customers Work with existing customer and newly developed customers to sell cutting & machining products and solutions Develop a pipeline of new business opportunities, leveraging the competencies across the business unit to meet and exceed customer requirements Work alongside the Rubix application engineers, other Rubix Cutting & Machining businesses and manufacturers to provide on and off site technical support Be accountable for your territory, retain existing customers, negotiate contractual agreements and drive profitable sales growth from both new and existing customers Provide customers with tangible and measured cost savings reducing machining times, increasing tool life, improving productivity and optimising efficiency Recommend appropriate solutions for the customer requirement, e.g. vending & managed inventory solutions Work towards established KPIs and sales targets as set by the business and your Line Manager Key Stakeholders: Supply partners Internal Sales Finance Skills and Experience: Ideal person would be already working in this industry sector but candidates who currently are in a machining or in a production environment with a desire to move into anapplication role may be considered Excellent communication skills Technically excellent with an extensive knowledge of metal cutting and machining processes Resourceful and problem-solving skills Competent in IT skills Knowledge of CADCAM and its features would be beneficial Our wording for previous job advertisements is below: Our ideal candidate would already be working within this sector, although we will absolutely consider a technically trained individual provided you have a strong desire to move into a sales career and have the technical capabilities, credibility and confidence to work with our customers Experience in the application of metal cutting tools Excellent communication and presentation skills Technically proven with an extensive knowledge of metal cutting and machining processes Resourceful with problem solving skills Self-starter, can do attitude and determination to succeed Benefits Attractive Basic salary Company car scheme / car allowance 25 days holiday Private health scheme Excellent pension scheme ADZN1_UKTJ
