Contract Type: Fixed-Term Division: Marine Consulting Level of experience: Intermediate RINA is currently recruiting for a Hull Inspector to join its office in Palermo, Italy within the Marine Consulting Division. Mission RINA Consulting is looking for a Hull Inspector for its Marine Consulting Business Unit. The contract is for a fixed term, dependent on the project's timeline. Key Accountabilities Conduct inspections regarding the construction of the ship's structure. Possess good knowledge of ship-construction rules and requirements during ship building. Demonstrate ability in reading and understanding structural drawings. Study the approved structure drawings. Verify the correspondence between approved and shipyard construction drawings. Study all welding procedures applied for construction. Verify welding material certificates and storage according to requirements. Recognize quality and defects in welding. Learn internal procedures of the shipyard from steel material storage to construction completion and delivery. Be an expert in IACS shipbuilding construction standards. Conduct required tests during construction: tightness, strength, NDT: VT, RT, UT, PT. In cooperation with the shipyard QC department, maintain records and follow up on findings and NC related to the hull structure and welding. Report to the Team Leader. Education High School Diploma/GED in Naval Engineering. Qualifications Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years’ experience in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry or applicable specialization. Proficiency in English commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, and related services. Ability to develop knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy. Ability to understand engineering plans and basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and operations. Ability to perform new building surveys, ship in service surveys, Marine Management Systems audits, and testing activities. Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery. Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities. Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.
