Job Opportunity: Business Development Manager Location : Manchester, UK Salary : £100,000 - £130,000 About the Role Our client, a leading research-based pharmaceutical company, is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to drive their expansion in the UK and European markets . This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the CDMO space , particularly within small molecules. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, sales-driven individual with a proven ability to build and nurture business relationships while achieving outstanding sales results. Key Responsibilities As the Business Development Manager, you will: Lead Business Expansion : Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across the UK and Europe . Develop strategic relationships with pharmaceutical companies requiring CDMO services, with a focus on small molecules. Build a sustainable pipeline of clients and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships. Achieve Sales Targets : Execute a comprehensive sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals. Lead negotiations, close high-value deals, and secure contracts that align with the client’s business objectives. Maintain and grow relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction. Market Research and Analysis : Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in the pharmaceutical CDMO market. Provide actionable insights and market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making. Identify untapped areas for growth and adapt approaches to maintain a competitive edge. Collaborate Across Teams : Partner with internal departments, including R&D, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, to deliver exceptional client service. Represent the client at industry conferences, trade shows, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility and build networks. Serve as a key point of contact for prospective and existing clients, ensuring smooth communication and project alignment. Drive Proposal and Contract Negotiations : Prepare and present tailored proposals to meet the unique needs of each client. Negotiate and finalize contracts while ensuring profitability and alignment with strategic objectives. Oversee post-sales processes to ensure seamless execution and delivery. Travel and Representation : Travel extensively across the UK and Europe to engage with potential and existing clients. Act as a trusted ambassador for our client, promoting their CDMO services and reinforcing their position as a market leader. What We’re Looking For Experience : A minimum of 5 years in business development, with a focus on the CDMO space and small molecules. Demonstrated success in generating and closing business in both UK and European markets . Skills : Proven ability to build relationships, negotiate complex deals, and deliver results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage at all levels of an organization. Knowledge : In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical CDMO landscape, including industry trends, challenges, and opportunities. Education : A degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field (an MBA is advantageous). Why This Role?
