Civil Engineer, Civil Design Engineer, Engineering Consultancy Your new company Hays are working in partnership with a well-established structural and civil engineering consultancy firm to hire a Civil Engineer for their Belfast, N.I. office. This company, which also has an office in Dublin, boasts a well-staffed team of professional engineers and technicians. They have extensive experience in the design, modelling, and construction of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures, as well as roads, drainage systems, hard landscaping, stormwater management, flood defences, and retaining walls. Additionally, they specialise in investigating and appraising historic structures, assessing stone, brick, timber, and metal forms, and designing conservation and repair works. Their project portfolio spans various sectors, including Ecclesiastical, Education, Health, Hospitality, Industrial, Infrastructure, Public & Community, Residential, and Retail. Your new role As a Civil Engineer, your role will involve daily interactions with statutory authorities, performing design calculations, and engaging in computer-aided design (CAD) tasks. A solid understanding of civil engineering principles will be advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Support engineering design efforts across various civil engineering disciplines. Attend client consultations and meetings. Participate in site visits and monitor construction activities. Organise and conduct site surveys and investigations. Liaise with DFI Roads, NI Water, and DfI Rivers. Possess in-depth knowledge of civil engineering design standards. Be proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and drainage design software. Exhibit strong communication skills. Produce NBS Specifications, reports, and other documentation. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate for the Civil Engineer role should have a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 3 years' UK experience. You should have good knowledge and experience of undertaking structural calculations for various concrete structures, as well as demonstrable experience in undertaking the design of various civil engineering structures.The candidate should be confident in producing technical sketches to British Standards, fully versed with different software like AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Civil,etc. Strong report writing skills and data analysis capabilities are also desirable.
