This project focuses on the study of ecological and environmental awareness in patristic and late antique literature. The fellow will investigate the potential for an ante litteram ecological awareness and examine the new relationships between production modes in late antique Italian and Western farms, as reflected in contemporary agronomic literature (e.g., Palladius' Opus agriculturae, Geoponica), including the scholia on Virgil's works (particularly Servius' commentary on the Georgics), and fifth and sixth-century legislation (Theodosian and Justinian Codes). Additionally, the fellow will provide scientific support for the digitisation of project-related texts and participate in scheduled dissemination activities.
