The Energy Markets Head Office in E.ON Energia S.p.A. deals with the procurement of commodities and the management of transport, dispatching, and balancing contracts for power and gas commodities and is made up of four interdependent areas: Market Access & Contract Management (area of the role); Portfolio Management & Commodity Pricing; Back Office & Reporting; Logistics & Forecasting E.ON Energia in its Energy Markets Head Office in Milan is looking for a: Short-term Power Trader The ideal candidate will work in the trading desk with a main focus on short-term products, basically intraday auctions, XBID, and DA. Main tasks and responsibilities: Develop trading strategies, take prop trading positions and manage exposures from retail portfolio shaped flows and renewable assets, based on analysis of fundamental and weather market conditions across multiple markets (CWE Markets). Support the development of the desk's capabilities, portfolio, and fundamental model. Understand and communicate risks being taken. Observe and strictly comply with all regulatory guidelines and within mandated authorities. Requirements: An Engineering / Mathematical / Physic / Statistical / Finance or similar degree. Proven experience of at least 5 years in the power sector. Significant years in power short-term trading experience, with a focus on the European Markets (especially Italy and Germany). Deep understanding of physical power markets, ideally with previous experience in managing assets (thermal and renewable). Strong grasp of market and weather fundamentals, and willingness to work with the fundamental/quant team to drive model development. Advanced proficiency in Excel, with basic knowledge of data analysis tools (Python) and databases (SQL, Oracle). Strong analytical/quantitative skills and problem-solving ability. Coding skills are a nice to have (Python, SQL, VBA). Ability to work in complex organizational contexts. Ability to work independently and manage the progress of new projects with the work team. Proactive attitude and strong focus on achieving results. Italian native speaker, fluent in English. Do you have questions?
