Senior Mechanical Design Engineer An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company in the water and wastewater sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to take on a senior role, providing leadership and guidance while working on complex projects. Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer include: Lead mechanical design efforts from concept to delivery, including formulating parameters, testing, and implementation strategies. Oversee project design elements, managing scoping, tendering, on-site delivery, and ensuring compliance with design and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with teams to optimise workflows, ensure profitability, and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Prepare and manage documentation, including proposals, specifications, schedules, testing, commissioning, and budget/resource allocation. Conduct site surveys and troubleshoot, ensuring project execution aligns with quality, safety, and environmental standards. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with 5 years in mechanical design, preferably in the UK water sector. Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with expertise in CAD rendering, animations, and modelling. Strong project management, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of successful project delivery. Experience mentoring junior engineers, collaborating on design challenges, and ensuring compliance with health & safety and CDM regulations. Valid UK driving licence, CSCS card, and confined spaces training preferred; nuclear, SSE, SGN, or construction experience a plus.
