Knowing which factors have the greatest influence on the adoption of sustainable behaviours can help to target projects and actions. From a psychosocial perspective, the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and the proposed extensions for sustainable behaviours can be used to identify such factors. However, there are two types of gaps in the literature: the relationship between behavioural intention and actual behaviour and the identification of factors that promote sustainable behaviour in different social groups. These aspects are analysed with the help of a nationwide survey. Furthermore, this modelling focuses on individual behaviour and leaves the truly collective dimensions in the background. These are investigated through focus groups with people who belong to different social groups and who adhere to the behaviour under investigation to varying degrees.
