Job Description
Job Title: MRI Technologist Job Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM; Every other Saturday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; On-call rotation; 1 holiday call shift Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: IEMA-DNS licensure required Certifications: - ARRT Radiography registration required - ARRT MRI registration required - Approved CPR or BLS certification required Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited radiography program Job Description: - Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. - May require working flexible hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and on-call as needed to provide quality patient care. - Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in committees and projects as requested. - Conduct procedures or examinations under the orders of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. - Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. - Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others. - Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. - Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort. - Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination. - Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. - Perform venipuncture, start and maintain venous access, prepare, and administer contrast media. - Verify consent/screening form. - Use appropriate scripting, barriers, and identifiers. - Assist physicians with interventional procedures. - Practice aseptic technique and observe universal precautions. - Evaluate images and data for technical quality and manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident. - Assume responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. - Use radiology information systems, including PACS, complete all required records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review and interpretation. - Initiate basic life support action when necessary. - Provide practical instruction to partners and students.
