Job Description

Job Title: Mammography/X-ray Technician Job Specialty: Radiology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour days Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT and X-ray experience License: Certified to practice and administer radiation Certifications: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Current BLS certification Must-Have: Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Basic computer knowledge; Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy Job Description: - Perform mammography imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring patient safety and comfort. - Obtain patient medical history, including prior breast imaging and reports, and verify patient identification and consent. - Position patients correctly and operate mammography equipment to obtain high-quality breast tissue images. - Monitor patients during imaging procedures, addressing any concerns or discomfort. - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures, including those required to maintain FDA certification. - Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret imaging results. - Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. - Maintain and perform quality assurance on mammography equipment to ensure optimal performance. - Provide patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors. - Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with advancements in breast imaging technology and best practices. - Demonstrate professional judgment in maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately. - Ensure resources are available as needed and participate in departmental improvement teams. This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
