Day-to-day of the role: As an Autism Specialist, you will: Develop and implement tailored educational strategies that meet the specific needs of students with autism. Work closely with a team of educators and therapists to create a supportive and effective learning environment. Utilise evidence-based practices to enhance communication, social skills, and behavioural management for students. Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adapt educational plans accordingly. Provide guidance and support to other staff members in understanding autism spectrum disorders. Engage with families to offer insights and strategies that support their children’s learning and development at home. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as an Autism Specialist or in a similar role within special educational needs (SEN) settings. A deep understanding of autism and the challenges and opportunities it presents in an educational context. Confidence and dedication to go above and beyond in supporting children with special needs. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service. Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
