Job Specification: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 Employment Type: Permanent Hours: Full Time, 42.5 hours per week Role OverviewAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting project delivery teams and senior management. Working on a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, you will drive cost efficiency, provide high-quality commercial analysis, and manage contractual requirements. Projects range in value from £200k to over £10m, offering the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging schemes. Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Prepare accurate and timely cost and value reports at project and business unit levels. Manage cost forecasting, cash flow reporting, and monthly CVRs. Draft and update commercial plans and cost documentation. Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial accounting. Prepare applications for payment, manage cash flow, and finalize accounts. Liaise with clients and stakeholders on commercial issues, including contractual changes and claims. Identify and realize commercial opportunities while mitigating risks.Contracts Manage contracts and subcontracts, primarily IChemE and NEC forms. Ensure terms align with governance, identifying and managing risks. Oversee procurement and post-contract management of subcontractors. Maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.Processes Support adherence to internal commercial processes and deadlines. Seek continuous improvement in procedures and practices.Key Measures Accurate forecasting and high-quality commercial documentation. Mitigation of risks and realization of commercial opportunities. Strong supply chain and client relationships. Achieve profit in line with expectations.Essential Skills and Experience Experience in the construction industry with familiarity in IChemE/NEC contracts and construction law. Proven experience in commercial management, including procurement, forecasting, and cost analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong numeric and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.Desirable Skills and Experience Member of RICS or equivalent, or working towards it. HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification. CSCS card and experience working for a direct delivery contractor. Knowledge in estimation and MEICA/M&E experience.
