Shift Manager - Mechanical

Salary: £68k inc. shift allowance Hours: 12 hr shifts 7 to 7 Location: Fawley, Southampton Benefits: Health care, company pension, etc. Duration: Permanent A world-leading industrial gases and engineering company require a Shift Manager at their top tier COMAH site near Southampton. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be respon-sible for the supervision & control of staff at the production plant to ensure pipeline tonnage / customer demands are met. Key responsibilities include: • Supervise, monitor, and control plant operations to meet quality and operational re-quirements in the most efficient manner. • Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving operational problems of any na-ture. • Control and supervise contractor personnel in accordance with site rules and regula-tions and permit to work requirements. • Acts as Senior Person on Site for on and off-site emergencies and implement site Emergency Plans as required. • Lead and manage a shift team and maintain good relationships with all site person-nel. • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping whilst contributing to the site safety management system. • Ensure all site operations are carried out safely, and in accordance with the company and statutory operating and safety standards. Out of hours be responsible for the site on behalf of the management team. • Contribute fully to all site and business quality, safety, and environmental initiatives. Requirements: • Suitable candidates ideally will be educated to HNC in an engineering subject. • Experience of shift team working on a process plant in a position of some responsi-bility. • Detailed knowledge of Permit to Work procedures and relevant emergency plans. • Top tier COMAH site experience an advantage. • Mechanical background is ideal. • A broad knowledge of Air Separation operation or similar plant is desirable. • Operating experience of hydrogen plant reformers, carbon monoxide installations and associated equipment (an advantage). • You will need to have a sound knowledge of systems and procedures, including Op-erations and Engineering Standards, the SAP maintenance, purchasing and reporting system. • Proficiency in the production of regular management reports and the ability to own and manage issues of an inter-disciplinary nature will be important attributes. • You must have a high level of personal Integrity.
