Job Title: Data Centre Shift Technician Location: Reading Salary: £49,000 Duration: Permanent/Full-time Sector: Engineering The Opportunity: Join a leading engineering company as a Data Centre Shift Technician based in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a critical environment, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of data centre facilities while supporting business continuity. Responsibilities: Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems. Monitor and maintain the data centre’s power, cooling, and environmental systems to ensure uptime. Diagnose and troubleshoot faults or failures in systems and equipment. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies. Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs and incident reports. Liaise with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or maintenance. Support emergency operations and respond to critical incidents promptly. Skills and Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC). Proven experience in a critical or data centre environment. Strong knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and HVAC systems. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. Understanding of health and safety regulations. Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends. SC or DV clearance (prefered) Knowledge of CMMS HVAP or LVAP The Offer: Competitive salary of £49,000 per annum.
