Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the General Manager you will: Design solar PV systems for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Perform site evaluations to assess solar performance potential, shading, and structural factors. Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and installation teams as well as stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery. Use software tools such EasyPV, OpenSolar, and PVsol to develop precise solar PV layouts and simulations. Conduct energy modelling and financial analysis to evaluate project feasibility and return on investment (ROI). Optimise PV designs for maximum efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, considering client needs and preferences. Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in solar PV design and engineering. Support costing estimations with technical advice. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Demonstrable experience in Solar PV design, using tools such as AutoCAD, EasyPV, OpenSolar or PVSol (or similar solar design software) is essential. A City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or a similar field of study. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be desirable but not essential. Excellent knowledge of electrical engineering, systems and industry standards. A Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role.
